Inspiraton and Confections

It's a great joy to be able to easily get back to the places that have been such a big part of my life, to savour, enjoy and paint them. I live in the hustle bustle of Manchester, but return regularly to North Wales where I grew up, to the Lakes, the Peaks, the Dales and beyond.

In recent years, Landscape painting has become my main focus. It's quite natural that when you start as a painter, you record what is there. The inspiration of the landscape is essential, but over time i've found it much more rewarding for me as the Artist to paint with brevity and poetry the feeling of the landscape. For the viewer, more space and opportunity to connect with what the painting means to them.

The Land. Sky and Water collections are mostly done in my primary medium of Oil paint. Although sometimes highly interpreted, they are based on real locations and experiences. The abstractions collection uses watercolour to create confections motifs of nature and the landscape. I thoroughly enjoy them both.
